Signs not in use!

You sometimes just wonder!

I spotted this on the roadside and thought does that refer to the sign itself, other signs, or what?

Road sign,

It does remind me of an episode of the Simpsons where this appeared!

Anyway, back to the WMD HQ were I was not in the mood for anything on the bench so I had a look at my Accurascale Andrew Barclay 0-4-0 loco that I got for Christmas 2024.

Accurascale Andrew Barclay 0-4-0,

A wonderful loco, just like the ones at the Rocks By rail Museum. However, it was one that had the classic issue of the motor mount failing meaning the motor ran but the loco didn't!

Accurascale Andrew Barclay 0-4-0,

Removing the body from the chassis was not too taxing although there is some cosmetic pipework to undo.

Accurascale Andrew Barclay 0-4-0,

The culprits causing the issue are the two clips either side of the motor. They were not clipping the motor in place, hence the motor did not mesh with the rest of the drive gears. Although Accurascale supply a rectified replacement, I just bent the clips inwards and the motor clipped in place.

Accurascale Andrew Barclay 0-4-0,

Body back on it was tested on the track and runs beautifully!

A nice quick job with a satisfactory ending! Nice!

Woody's Christmas Day!

Christmas Day

Well this was the scene on my pre Christmas lunch bike ride - you need to build up an apatite or so Mrs. Woody told me as she encouraged me out of the house! Certainly not seasonal but what a great day to go for a bike ride even in shorts!

Prior to that Woody had been recipient to a couple of very nice presents. First off was this unusual, for me, 1/25 scale kit of a Fergie tractor by Heller. Going to enjoy the new challenge of building that and there are no brass etched parts!!!!

Second was this 00 gauge model of an Andrew Barclay 0-4-0 tank engine by Accurascale. Very much like the one being re-tubed at the Rocks By rail Museum at the moment. The box is certainly large for such a small loco.

It certainly should not have been damaged in transit with that protection round it!

It looks fantastic - really do like that.

I will need to take it the Museum and photo it on the footplate of the real loco but that is something for next year!

Hope that you all had a great time over the past couple of days even if you ended up in front of the TV where I did for some of the time but well worth the time to watch Wallace and Gromit!
