Following yesterdays soaking at the Rocks By Rail Museum where the rain was battling with the over sized washing machine doing the ballast washing to see which could get Woody wetter, it was a pleasant surprise to wake up to sunshine this morning. In fact it was such a nice day that I took Mrs. Woody out and we ended up having a walk around part of a country house grounds.
It was not a massive country house but of a size where if you enquired as to whether they had ducks on their lake they would ask which one of the lakes was being enquired about! In fact there were ducks about on all the lakes just like these.
Taking a closer look it was nice to see that there was a brood of ducklings so the ducks will no doubt be seen on the lakes for some years to come.
Apart from the numerous lakes and associated water fowl, there was modelling inspiration too. Take for example this view.
It may look very scenic but Mrs. W spotted something in the trees.
A rather rusty water tower looking very much like the one which Airfix made a model of and now produced by Dapol. If only I could get my rust weathering to look that good!
Something else that caught my eye was this yard scene.
It just oozes character with the various styles of building with additions and ad hoc repairs as well as piles of gravel, timber, pallets and other things. To my mind all it needs is an industrial narrow gauge railway going through it to make it a wonderful scene to make a model of - maybe one day! I have a lot of kits to build before taking on any new projects!
However, talking of kits, I also spotted this collection of palletised stone. Not sure if it is a building that has been dismantled and is now in kit form awaiting rebuilding but there were certainly some impressive bits of stone in there. I just hope some one has the instructions!
