In repainting the hall I noted that a lot of the pictures that I took down and then rehung are related to cats which given the number who have lived their lives at WMD HQ over the years is perhaps not too surprising! I go have some personal favorites - the art that is , all cats are treated equally!
This first one is one that my Mum bought from a car boot sale about 40 years ago. She had it framed and I always loved it. Why? I don't really know but I just do! When I inherited it I wondered where to put it so it has leant up against a bedroom wall for some time but with the opportunity to re-arrange pictures during the repaint process it now hangs in the hall
Finally for today this one probably says it all. Any cat owners will more than likely understand the words!
It may become apparent (or maybe already has) that I like a bit of an investigative challenge, so had to take up the challenge of “why Earwig?”
ReplyDeleteWell. I failed. But in doing so, did discover that Earwig is not a boat with an engine, but is destined to be spend its life as a carrier, being towed behind something else, which may explain why it ends up
abandoned in empty canals from time to time.

I knew I could rely upon you to find out more Mrs. B! Very interesting that it should in effect be a 'butty' if it is an earwig. I never knew canal terminology were so complex!
DeleteI am finding myself in very muddy waters with this canal terminology. On further investigation it seems I should have defined Earwig as a “working-flat”. Now a butty is an unpowered narrow boat … 🤷♀️which is different. 🤣
ReplyDeleteMrs B
I stand or possibly sink by defining butty as some form of edible bread type consumable. As you will have noted the canal in question certainly does have muddy waters for which there is no doubt a canal type terminology!
ReplyDeleteTurbi. 😀

I believe there may be a need to develop a Canal Terms Made Simple book or more in lime with my abilities, Canal Terminology for Dummies!
ReplyDeleteEspecially as my keyboard skills failed me.
ReplyDeleteTurbid would have been the word of the day.
